Calibration is like giving a test to check if a measurement device, like a alcometer, is telling the truth. To do this, we blow a known amount of gas into the alcometer, and it should give us the exact same result. If it’s a little off, we adjust it until it matches perfectly. This is important because we want to make sure the alcometer always gives us the right measurement when checking alcohol levels in our breath. By doing regular calibration, we can trust the alcometer to be accurate and reliable every time we use it.

Why is it important?

Just like how we need to check our watches to make sure they tell the right time, alcometers also need regular checks to make sure they give accurate alcohol readings. This process is called calibration, and it’s essential for the alcometer to work correctly.

How frequent should you do it?

We recommend calibrating your alcometer once a year or after every 200 tests, whichever comes first. This helps compensate for any changes that might happen over time, like the sensor or other important parts getting older. If the alcometer gives a lot of high alcohol readings, it might need calibration even sooner.

What is the process?

Our calibration process involves several steps to ensure the alcometer’s accuracy. First, we do a functional test to make sure everything works properly. Then, we test and adjust the unit to cover its entire reading range, so it’s precise at all alcohol levels. We use special “Wet Bath Simulators” approved by the Department of Transportation (DOT) to do this. We also replace mouthpieces and any broken parts on the outside of the alcometer.

We know how important it is to have your alcometer back quickly, so we promise to complete the calibration within five working days. This way, you can trust that your alcometer will give you the right alcohol readings whenever you use it.

By calibrating your alcometer regularly, you can have peace of mind, knowing that it’s reliable and accurate. So, just like checking your watch, don’t forget to calibrate your alcometer to ensure it always works like a charm! ServeGas provides this services of alcometers and ensure the measurements are always right.
